There is a carport to safely store snowmobiles or bikes, a gas grill, firepit. Nestled among the pines, this 3-bedroom cottage is the perfect destination for an escape to the Northwoods. The cabin is located on the West Bay of Little Saint Germain Lake. This beautiful cabin features a wood fireplace and up north decor, to create the perfect getaway.
“I have seen the first season and I really dug it,” he says of the show. “The palpable kitchen anxiety, even though it’s a bit dramatized, it’s really damn close,” to how things are at a real-life restaurant. It sounds like the last few months of his life have been a bit like the streaming show, “The Bear,” whose title character runs a Chicago restaurant (and deals with all the drama that goes along with that). The menu varies weekly, but a recent list included a lemon-caper tofu dish, an eggplant agrodolce sandwich, and an orecchiette and mushroom soup. There, you just got healthier reading that description (no not really). Eventually, Hemlock House will also serve cocktails, once their liquor license has been finalized, likely later next month. Until then, they’ve partnered with Kingfly Spirits in the Strip District and Arboretum Trail Brewing in the East End, “for extended pop-ups with their products, basically,” he says. The home is situated at Lake Naomi, a private community and retreat comprised of a lake, community center, indoor and outdoor pools, tennis courts and golf club.
For those who love interesting flavors with perfectly cooked pasta, this one is a gem. The foie gras nigiri was an interesting one for a limited run menu item and was all about the texture- delectably smooth foie gras served on top of rice was the picture of decadence all around.
The bulk of construction took place during the pandemic. The owner and architect were in a “pod, driving long hours together for site visits. This togetherness presented a unique opportunity for conversation, collaboration, and ultimately a common vision for their family. Decorated with a flare of cows, this cabin is warm and cozy. This one takes a classic bucatini and incorporates uni and sake into a cream sauce before being topped with stracciatella and roe for a tangy, sweet, and salty splash of flavor that was rather unexpected.

The Stingers mite(U6-U8) full-ice hockey program is based at the Crystal Ice House in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Fire Wagon operates the Yellowjackets hockey club (YJ) and is a proud member of USA Hockey, Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois, Northern Illinois Hockey League, and the Northwest Hockey League. ASPIRE ICE is a monthly program that includes 2 hours of freestyle ice per week, ALL ASPIRE ICE sessions, an On-Ice Variety Class, and an Off-Ice Conditioning Class. A freestyle session is for figure skating practice or private lessons. This program is designed for players that are beginner or novice skilled hockey players that want game experience to increase their game skills.

Icehouse Canyon is located in a beautiful stretch of the Angeles National Forest near Mount Baldy Village, just southeast of the mighty Mount Baldy. At 7,500 feet, this low point in the ridgeline offers sweeping views of the western San Gabriel Mountains.

In recent years, as the area has experienced warmer winters, Crystal Ice Cave seems to be melting, according to a short video from the National Parks Service. The Parks Service did not open Crystal Ice Cave tours in 2020 due to high temperatures, which prevent the monumental ice formations from freezing and leave areas of the cave wet and too dangerous to traverse. The cave is usually accessible via private tours on Saturdays from January through March, which can only be booked over the phone and tend to fill up fast, according to Gizmodo. At one point, the ice cave tours took as many as 40 people—until rangers noticed the tours caused an enormous, unnatural spike in temperature and reduced the group size to six.
Club Classes
Departing from the parking lot along Icehouse Canyon Road, the trail takes course along the northern bank of a creek that flows down the canyon. Crystal clear water tumbles past oaks and sycamores, and this is a fine venue for a directionless romp through nature for those disinterested in following the trail. A half-dozen cabins are spread out along the bottom of the canyon, along with another half-dozen stone foundations (ruins left over from the early days of the Angeles).
Each free skate level is comprised of a variety of progressive skating skills, transitions, spins and jumps — all of which build on the previous skill, providing skaters a strong foundation of all elements. These levels will be taught in a positive and interactive group format such as a bridge program, circuit classes or as an introductory training program. Lava Beds National Monument is located on the ancestral lands of the Modoc people. In 1870, a group of 372 Modocs left the reservation and returned to Lava Beds, taking refuge in a natural lava fortress and holding off the U.S. army for five months.

The cave drops as deep as 150 feet below the ground and runs 960 feet long, and features towering ice stalactites, stalagmites, and two frozen waterfalls, according to the Mail Tribune. The formations are different each year, depending on how the water falls and freezes. The cave was named by Judson Dean Howard, who is credited for prodding President Calvin Coolidge to turn the caves at Lava Beds into a National Monument. The land above Crystal Ice Cave is a desert, and the drippings from the cave’s formations offer a crucial watering hole for wildlife. One mile from the start, comes a junction with the Chapman Trail, which turns north, passing through Cedar Grove Trail Camp on a more roundabout course to Icehouse Saddle.

The Crystal Lake Stingers Hockey Club is a member of the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) mite travel hockey division and the AAU affiliate, Chicago United Hockey League (CUHL) . Box office, but Hammer was unable to capitalise on them as most of the profits went to other financial backers. Towards the end of 1951, the one-year lease on Down Place expired, and with its growing success Hammer looked towards more conventional studio-based productions. A dispute with the Association of Cinematograph Technicians blocked this proposal, and the company purchased the freehold of Down Place instead.
Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense
In America, eight episodes from the series were broadcast as four made-for-television films consisting of twinned episodes along with new segment introduction footage provided by actors Patrick McGoohan, Sebastian Cabot and Joan Crawford serving as hosts. The series was first aired on ABC from 26 September, 1968 to 30 January, 1969, prior to broadcast in the UK on ITV in 1969. Hammer's horror films featured many actors who appeared repeatedly in a number of movies, forming an informal "Hammer repertory company". Terence Fisher's version of Gaston Leroux's novel (with a screenplay by John Elder) was not received well critically or financially at the time of its release.
Creepy kids are very often a winning formula in horror, and they work well in at least one other Hammer House of Horror episode, as we’ll soon see. “Growing Pains,” though, is a case of both too much going on in a single episode, and not enough simple horror pleasure to be found in the core concept. The episode follows a married couple who adopt a young boy after the death of their son, and the boy’s detached and peculiar demeanor soon leads to strange happenings around the house. Even the obtuse theme music, which starts with a stab of dramatic drums before going into an unexpectedly major-key guitar line that sounds like a Wall’s Viennetta advertisement, adds to the show’s out-of-tune style. That kind of says it all – none of it’s quite right.” He points to his favourite episode, The Two Faces of Evil, to illustrate. Brenda (Rita Tushingham), an author of children's books living at home with her mother, decides to venture out to London and find a father for the child she is not yet pregnant with, but is determined to have. She meets Peter (Shane Briant), a sociopath preying on the city's women who lures Brenda into his bloody game of deceit. Penny Appleby (Susan Strasberg) returns to her father's home on the French Riviera, only to find her stepmother (Ann Todd) making excuses for his absence. After Penny spots her father's dead body, only for it to vanish later, she enlists the help of the family's driver (Ronald Lewis) to help her crack the case.

It is revealed that everything was a ploy, and the entire sequence of events were staged to deceive everyone into believing the house was haunted and they were forced to flee. Powers sells the film rights to his bestselling book, based on these 'paranormal' experiences, making himself, William and Emma even richer. However, Sophia (who was never told of the scam) has become quiet and detached and Emma worries she may have been affected by the traumatic events in the house. When Sophia reads Powers' book and then discovers the belongings of the old couple who lived in the house before them, she seemingly becomes possessed. Picking up the kukri, the murder weapon from the old house, she walks into her mother's bedroom and kills William as Emma screams in horror.
You can probably see where this whole thing is going right up to the final ironic twist. That doesn’t mean it’s not entertaining, but it also means the entertainment only takes you so far. Three years later in California, William and Emma (who is revealed to actually be a single parent) are rich and living together, with Sophia who is now older.
Several Hammer House of Horror episodes follow the “person is driven mad by events they can’t explain or control” formula, but “Visitor from the Grave” is by far the most unpleasant. Created by Roy Skeggs after years of false starts for Hammer on the television front, Hammer House of Horror was devised as a way to tell contemporary stories with a classic Hammer feel. Edwyn lives with his cranky-natured mother (Annie Dyson), with a pretty estranged tenant lady Stella (Georgina Hale) and her baby as their neighbour. He visits a rector, Father Macintosh (Antony Brown), for advice, but runs away when he sees 9 mentioned as the date of service.
Grace Marshall (Riley Keough) moves with her stepchildren-to-be, Aiden (Jaeden Martell) and Mia (Lia McHugh), into an isolated cabin just before the Christmas holidays, to await the arrival of her fiancée. It's to be anything but a holly-jolly Christmas, however, as Grace and the kids begin experiencing bizarre events that seem to harken back to Grace's past as the sole survivor of a mass suicide initiated by the cult to which she belonged. Drifter Jeff Farrell (Kerwin Mathews) stumbles into a bar in southern France, where he immediately becomes enraptured with the owner's stepdaughter, Annette (Liliane Brousse). Annette's stepmother, Nadia (Eve Baynat), begins to seduce Jeff as well, in the hopes that he will assist her in springing her estranged husband, Annette's father, from the prison in which he is incarcerated after blow-torching the face of a man who attacked his young daughter. This energetic and colorful reimagining of the Hitchcock classic finds Shepherd in the prime of her comedic powers, playing splendidly off of Gould as her foil. Much like William Castle's 1963 version of The Old Dark House, this take on the story is more blatantly positioning itself as a farce.
While awaiting execution for murder, Baron Victor Frankenstein tells the story of a creature he built and brought to life - only for it to behave not as he intended. If we saw the logo of Hammer, we knew it was going to be a very special picture. After a few quiet years, the film The Lodge had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on 25 January 2019.
Indeed, behind-the-scenes problems led to significant alterations to the overall film. Originally, Cary Grant had reached out to Hammer about starring in one of their upcoming films. Grant had been so impressed by Fisher's work on The Curse of Frankenstein and Horror of Dracula that he wished to work specifically with the director, and so Hammer went about crafting a script. The result of this was a draft of Phantom in which each role was written to potentially appeal to Grant himself, who ended up not taking any of the parts after his agent talked him out of doing a low-budget horror flick. Hammer then had a script on its hands of such cost that the only way to make a profit was to release the film with an A rating, which would allow children of all ages as long as anyone under 12 were accompanied by an adult. Almost immediately, bits and pieces of Guest's film were regurgitated into American films, to say nothing of the countless British knock-offs.
In 2010, Hammer revitalized itself as a new name in the horror game and released Matt Reeves' acclaimed Let Me In, soon followed by the Daniel Radcliffe-led remake of The Woman in Black. Hammer's most recent release was Doctor Jekyll, featuring Eddie Izzard as Dr. Nina Jekyll (and her alter ego, Rachel Hyde) in a modern retelling of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson story, which premiered at London's FrightFest in August 2023. With any luck, Hammer will continue its reign of terror for decades to come. With a cast including Diana Dors, Peter Cushing and even the future James Bond Pierce Brosnan, the horrors played out in a world of everyday people, provincial English towns, smoking in pubs, creaky village antique shops, regional accents and full-English breakfasts. This was not even the climax of The House That Bled to Death, part of British horror studio Hammer’s TV venture, Hammer House of Horror. That would come when the truth about the birthday girl’s duplicitous parents was revealed – and, indeed, they got their reward. But it was this bloody scene that would become, for many, the defining memory of one of the creepiest programmes ever shown on British television. Forty years ago this month, ITV broadcast a children’s birthday party that no one in attendance would forget. As a group of kids gathered on screen for jelly and games, a torrent of brilliant red Kensington gore suddenly came from above, soaking everything and everyone in the room.

When Miss Froy disappears, and no one but Amanda has any recollection of her, the heiress enlists a photographer (Elliott Gould) to back her up in uncovering the truth behind the missing woman. Perhaps the most famous episode in Hammer House of Horror, thanks to its delightfully over-the-top centerpiece scene, is also one of its very best. “The House That Bled to Death” follows the classic “family buys a house with a dark past because it’s cheap” formula, then twists it in wonderfully ironic ways that fit the darkly comic aesthetic of some of the best Hammer stories.

Tom goes back to their car to collect some things, but is attacked by a half-human creature covered in fur with yellow eyes. When he returns to the house, he and Sarah hear howling coming from the woods. Later that night in their room, Sarah is horrified when she sees the face of a werewolf at the window. Finding their bedroom door locked, Tom climbs out of the window to investigate, but falls while climbing the drainpipe. Meanwhile, the werewolf enters their bedroom through the house and attacks Sarah as Mrs Ardoy and the children watch in delight. In the latter part of the 1970s, Hammer made fewer films, and attempts were made to break away from the then-unfashionable Gothic horror films on which the studio had built its reputation.
Janet wakes up in hospital unharmed with her son, and is told that Martin underwent emergency neck surgery and cannot talk for the time being. The local policeman questions Janet, who says she can't remember anything after the crash, but that the attacker had long nails on his right hand. She is then told that the attacker was killed in the crash and his right hand is missing, hence the nails can't be seen for identification. After Penny's body is taken away by the medics, Gupta takes off his disguise, Charlie reappears in person, and they begin celebrating their "success" with Harry and Margaret.
William and Emma Peters (Nicholas Ball and Rachel Davies) move into a house with their young daughter Sophia, but are apparently unaware of its history. Powers (Milton Johns), but the house was the site of a gruesome murder in the 1950s when an elderly man poisoned and hacked his wife to death. Soon, strange happenings begin, with creepy noises, doors that shut and do not open, leaking gas pipes, the appearance of bloodstains on walls, and even the slaughter of Sophia's pet cat by an unknown force.
The House That Bled to Death
A mother of three children under four years old was met with a “terrifying” surprise after she and her husband investigated why a handful of bees had flown into the attic of the couple’s North Carolina home. Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee appeared in none of the Mummy sequels, which had stories and characters unrelated to the 1959 film and all three were relegated to second feature status, as by the mid-1960s, Hammer's films were often intended for double features. Often two films would be shot back-to-back with the same sets and costumes to save money, and then each film would be shown on a separate double feature to prevent audiences noticing any recycling, as for example in The Plague of the Zombies and The Reptile (both 1966). The Curse of the Mummy's Tomb supported the slightly more prestigious The Gorgon, whilst The Mummy's Shroud was a second feature for Frankenstein Created Woman. "Because of the fantastic business done world-wide by Hammer's Technicolor version of Dracula, Universal-International, its distributors, have made over to Jimmy Carreras' organisation, the remake rights to their entire library of classic films." The Abominable Snowman of the Himalayas is not available to watch or rent.
The Mummy is an exceedingly elegant and creepy horror picture that seamlessly blends its action and adventure elements. Hammer's final release during its peak period was this Anthony Page-directed, made-for-television remake of Alfred Hitchcock's 1938 film. Cybill Shepherd stars as Amanda, an American heiress on a cross-country train trip in pre-war Nazi Germany, who befriends a kind older woman, Miss Froy (Angela Lansbury), during the journey.
Horror of Dracula (
He investigates, and discovers a web of sex, incest, and Satanic possession. The film was an enormous success, not only in Great Britain, but also in the U.S., where it inspired numerous imitations from, amongst others, Roger Corman and American International Pictures (with their series largely based on Edgar Allan Poe – the so-called "Poe Cycle"). It found success on the European continent also, where Italian directors and audiences were particularly receptive. The project was handed to Tony Hinds, who was less impressed with the script than Michael Carreras, and whose vision for the film was a simple black-and-white 'quickie' made in three weeks. Concerned that Subotsky and Rosenberg's script had too many similarities to the Universal films, Hinds commissioned Jimmy Sangster to rewrite it as The Curse of Frankenstein. Sangster's treatment impressed Hammer enough to rescue the film from the 'quickie' treadmill and to produce it as a colour film.
She notices Chuck's coat at the store and immediately goes to the local police but they simply advise her to wait a while longer for his return before they act. Annie investigates the store at night and finds Chuck trapped in the cell, and runs to seek help. It is revealed that Martin is a former Nazi concentration camp official conducting bizarre experiments on human beings and animals, and wanted to use Chuck as a human subject. Annie returns to help Chuck but is pushed into the cell by Martin, who closes the trapdoor.
Shenley and Lolly go to another apartment to discuss another sale, where they find that the place is desolate and is being demolished, with them stuck in it. Shenley runs to safety outside, and is met with by Rayburn who repeats the same sentence. His wife, already knowing that he has an affair with Lolly, calls the doctor, and it is revealed that he has a brain tumour, which needs emergency surgery. During the surgery, performed by Rayburn, Emily and Lolly, Shenley dies and is put in the mortuary—at which point he wakes up again beside his sleeping wife, after his fifth nightmare. Film music composer David Winter (Jon Finch) lives with his actress wife Mary (Prunella Gee) in a secluded farmhouse.
In the U.S., A&E Home Entertainment, under license from Carlton International Media Limited, released the complete series on Region 1 DVD in 2001. Edwyn wakes up in the hospital, and is told by Harris and Dr Manders that he had an attack of severe delusion of persecution, and now he is better as he has responded to medication. They decide to send him back to his old job as an operation theatre assistant. Edwyn hears on the radio of three nurses who have died by an undiagnosed viral infection of the brain in the country. Back home he finds Stella, but is reminded of his mother and sees her body in the freezer, after which he again develops delusions. Newly appointed morgue worker Edwyn Bord (Peter McEnery) becomes obsessed with the number 9, which is being often repeated to him in his everyday interactions with people and experiences.
